Artist's Statement:
Each of these sculptural pieces commemorates the achievements of those who have set goals and worked diligently to obtain them. By incorporating the image of a victorious woman grasping a star, they honor hope and perseverance. The use of found objects emphasizes the variety, complexity and uniqueness of every individual woman. Colorful shapes spring up around the figure evoking a sense of celebration. The words of inspiration surrounding the base remind us of those qualities that humans embody and strive towards. Each sculpture is a signed and numbered original by Kansas City artist, Lori Buntin. There are only 120 pieces in this series. They were commissioned by and created for the Women's Employment Network. They were donated by STUFF and the artist.
