It All Begins with Training

WEN’s training program is uniquely structured to meet the varying needs and skill levels of women in all stages of employment: those who are unemployed, underemployed, laid off, new to the job market or seeking to re-enter the workplace.

WEN understands that achieving economic stability requires training and support at multiple levels. With a unique focus on personal responsibility and self-confidence, the training program offers a comprehensive approach that includes:

Women meet with the Personal Support Specialist, Employment Services Representative, Financial Coach, and Director of Program Services to discuss their strengths, concerns and barriers, and create a plan for success.

Résumé Development
Women learn how to assess their unique skills, abilities and experiences, and package them into concise résumés that serve as a foundation for their job search. These résumés help open doors to interviews and quality job opportunities.

Interview Strategies
Women prepare for and participate in mock interviews conducted by human resources professionals and managers who volunteer from area businesses.

Financial Literacy
Learn how to use a budget and keep to it in the Basic Money Management workshop. Attend the Credit Reports and Identity Theft workshop to better understand how your credit affects you, how to improve your credit, and how to protect yourself from Identity Theft.

Job Search
Women work closely with the Employment Services Representative to develop an individualized job search strategy that takes into consideration their needs and access to resources, and maximizes their own efforts. They learn how to develop and use their personal networks, how to research employers, how to complete applications online and post their résumé to job sites.

Tonia Bomar, WEN's Employment Services Representative, is thrilled to have ROX Jobs as a new corporate partner. "WEN clients typically complain of the technological hurdles and endless job-search websites out there right now,” Bomar said. “There is a lot of frustration one faces when new to the modern job-searching environment. The ROX Jobs website will help to narrow down the job-search focus for our clients."

Overcoming Barriers to Success

WEN provides professional case management services for women who need assistance in overcoming personal obstacles to successful employment. Licensed case managers work individually with each woman to help her resolve barriers to her economic stability such as challenges with housing, domestic violence, child care, transportation, healthcare, etc.

Confidence to Succeed

Within a positive environment, WEN’s team of trainers, case managers, the Employment Services Representative and community volunteers constantly encourage women to believe in themselves and their capacity to create a better future for themselves — and their families.
